In August 2023, OWED’s Executive Director, Mme. Mildred Ndzerem, participated in a high-level capacity-building workshop in Senegal focused on the collection, analysis, and use of data on violence against women (VAW), sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), harmful practices, and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) indicators.
The training aimed to enhance participants’ ability to gather and interpret reliable data that can inform evidence-based decision-making and strengthen advocacy efforts for women’s protection and empowerment across Africa. By improving data management skills, the workshop sought to ensure that organizations like OWED can design more targeted interventions, influence policies, and amplify the voices of women and girls affected by violence and discrimination.
Mme. Ndzerem’s participation underscores OWED’s commitment to capacity development and evidence-driven advocacy. The knowledge and experience gained from this workshop will further empower OWED’s ongoing efforts to end gender-based violence, promote women’s rights, and advance inclusive community development in Cameroon.
