Bafut Community located in Mezam Division North West region of Cameroon has not had the best of opportunities to benefit from sensitization on gender based violence as compared to other communities. This is because of its remote nature, insecurity frequent shooting and killings.
Many organizations hardly carry out outreach programs there for fear of the unknown reasons why OWED decided to brave the odds and reach out to this community through community mobilization to create awareness on actions to take in case of GBV and the various reporting channels and to reduce occurrences of GBV in the community. The sensitization took place on Sunday 28 August 2022 at Bafut and Catholic Church Rosoli Bafut.
The greatest cry for team OWED is for other organizations to extend their tentacles to the suburbs and aid the inhabitants who are ignorant about certain actions.
