In May 2025, the Organization for Women Empowerment and Development (OWED) was proudly recognized for its outstanding commitment to menstrual health and hygiene as it received the Redvocate Menstrual Hygiene Champion Award.
The award was presented by the International Menstrual Hygiene Coalition, under the leadership of Madam Mokwe Welisane Nkeng, in acknowledgment of OWED’s consistent efforts in promoting menstrual hygiene education, advocacy, and access to menstrual products for girls and women across communities.
This recognition celebrates OWED’s unwavering dedication to breaking menstrual stigma, empowering adolescent girls, and ensuring that menstruation is treated as a normal and dignified part of life. Through various outreach programs, pad distributions, and awareness campaigns, OWED has continued to champion the vision of creating a period-friendly world for all.
