OWED Celebrates World Humanitarian Day 2024

In August 2024, the Organization for Women Empowerment and Development (OWED) joined the rest of the world to celebrate World Humanitarian Day under the global theme “Active for Humanity.”

The commemoration took place at the St. Joseph Cathedral, Big Mankon, Bamenda, under the supervision of OCHA (Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs). The event brought together humanitarian actors, community leaders, and organizations working tirelessly to save lives and restore hope in crisis-affected communities.

OWED’s participation in this event reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to standing “Active for Humanity”—supporting vulnerable groups, promoting gender equality, and empowering communities to rise above adversity.

Through solidarity, compassion, and service, OWED continues to be a beacon of hope for women, girls, and families in need.
